Peonies

I created the PEONIES series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, just before my 94th birthday. My daughter's best friend, whose favorite flowers were peonies, had recently died of cancer, and I decided to pay tribute to my daughter's friend by painting a series of that friend's favorite flower. Although I was not very familiar with peonies, I was struck by their delicacy and beauty when I saw photographs of peonies. I decided to employ the ancient art of stenciling to express my admiration for this lovely flower.
